Labor and Employment Litigation
Laquer, Urban, Clifford & Hodge, LLP counsels clients
on a broad range of labor and employment matters--both compliance
issues and litigation. Our areas of expertise include wrongful
termination, sexual harassment, wage and hour, employee benefits,
family and medical leave, and race, sex and mental disability
discrimination.
Clients include government agencies, nonprofits, religious
institutions, multi-employer trust funds, and private businesses
and individuals. We have represented such clients as the
Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Department of
Health Services before the Civil Service Commission, the
Employer Relations Commission and the State of California
Department of Industrial Relations.
While specific activities vary from case to case, clients
engage our attorneys for a wide variety of services, such
as:
- Counseling on prevention and education to avoid costly
claims and litigation.
- Drafting employee handbooks and policy and procedure
manuals.
- Negotiating and drafting employment and severance agreements.
- Responding to claims and investigations by the EEOC and
DFEH.
- Prosecuting and defending wage claims.
- Appearing at civil service hearings.
- Litigating matters through discovery, summary judgment
and trial.
Although litigators work diligently to resolve matters outside
of the courtroom, Laquer, Urban, Clifford & Hodge, LLP
brings a depth and breadth of experience in successful jury
and bench trials to bear whenever out-of-court settlement
fails.
