Real Estate Law

Laquer, Urban, Clifford & Hodge, LLP's Real Estate practice encompasses transactions and litigation, including complex litigation and construction matters. In addition, we have particular expertise in environmental law and land use issues.

Clients turn to us for assistance in maximizing the value of real estate holdings, minimizing taxes and contributing significantly to their community. Our attorneys have spearheaded several public/private partnerships and land sharing agreements that resulted in benefits for both sides.

Laquer, Urban, Clifford & Hodge, LLP negotiates and documents commercial purchase and sale agreements and related due diligence requirements. Along with providing services related to leasing, sale and leaseback agreements, and unlawful detainers, we represent clients across a range of land use concerns, including zoning and entitlement matters, conditional use permits, variances and lot line adjustments.

Clients include commercial, industrial and residential developers; mobile home parks; property managers and owners; private businesses and individuals; nonprofits; and multi-employer trust funds.

Our firm's extensive real estate expertise includes:

  1. Multi-employer pension funds — Advising boards of trustees of several of the country's largest Taft-Hartley funds on issues such as lending, investing, developing, land use and leasing. Often, these same clients turn to our firm for operational support, such as negotiating leases or issuing unlawful detainers.

  2. Renewable energy — Supporting clients in issues such as determining optimum land use for renewable energy projects, negotiating agreements for renewable energy installations on client property and capturing the value of renewable energy tax credits.

  3. Religious institutions and land use — Counseling nonprofit organizations and religious institutions on zoning issues, building permits and negotiations with government agencies, as well as land use issues related to nonprofits and religious institutions, such as the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000 (RLUIPA).
